Do you feel like you’re failing? It’s time to WAKE UP!

Leigh Chmilar Wake UpHave you tried every diet known to man? Have you been on and off the exercise train forever and feel like it’s never really worked? Have you settled into the idea that you should be happy with where you are, because it just seems impossible to change? Maybe you are “big-boned” or your genetics are preventing you from looking the way you feel inside? Yet, you feel unhappy and stuck with your body, and frustrated that despite all of these efforts, nothing seems to change?

Trust me, you are not alone. I’ve had thoughts like that. The fittest people I know have had those thoughts. But now when I think them I shake myself, ’cause that kind of thinking is crazy, by the way. It’s time to WAKE UP and realize that nobody except YOU can change who you are and what your body is doing. You are not out of control. You have every ability to turn your health around and love your body.

They give you the map, but YOU walk the road

Doctors, dieticians, personal trainers, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and any other “health” professional cannot change you. They are there as a resource to you – when you need direction. It’s YOU that walks the road, they give you the map. You get to decide what you are going to do, and how bad you want it. You are the reason that things aren’t working. You are stuck in your world where it’s comfortable enough that you aren’t willing to suffer to get what you want, yet are unhappy with your body and health and think about it every day.

Your body is an intricate machine. Scientists know and can predict what the body can and will do in response to diet and exercise (Psst – Did you know that you can literally REVERSE type 2 Diabetes with a healthy diet and exercise? Yup). There are no excuses.

It’s time to wake up. Reality is the world you live in – and it’s the world you create with your thoughts and actions. So is reality going to be “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never look and feel strong and confident?”. “I want to lose weight and come off medications, but It’s too hard”. Then that will be true.

OR is reality going to be “I’m dedicated to making the changes I WANT to see. I’m ready to put myself through discomfort, and do things differently to become a better and stronger person”.

Here are some tough love truths that you need to hear about the journey:

  • It’s not easy.
  • You will be sore, hungry, and uncomfortable.
  • You will be tempted by cravings every day.
  • You will WANT to stop doing it (you’ve probably stopped before).

AND, here are some real truths about why it is all worth it:

  • You will feel happier, more energized, and confident
  • You will improve your health, and give your body a fighting chance against disease
  • You will be around longer for your loved ones (and not a burden)
  • You will WANT to keep doing it, because it will make you feel AMAZING

So here are some questions to ponder next time you start to think those self-defeating thoughts:

3. How many more times do I want to quit and then start again from the beginning?

4. Is it worth it to continue to feel the way you feel about yourself?
